Rev. Shawn Deterding

Pastor Shawn Lynn Deterding was born on July 26, 1967 in Meade, KS.

Upon graduating from high school, Pastor Deterding attended St. John's College in Winfield, KS for one year before transferring to Concordia College in Ann Arbor, MI. After transferring to Wichita State University in KS, Pastor Deterding graduated with a B.A. in Secondary Education in 1991.

Pastor Deterding and his wife, Patricia (nee: Runyan), met while they were serving together in the outdoor ministry at Texhoma Lutheran Camp in Pottsboro, TX. They were married on February 8, 1997. Patricia completed her education at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, earning a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. God has blessed this union with seven children.

Pastor Deterding graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis with a M. Div. degree in May, 2003. Previously, he has served as Pastor at Christ the King in Lake Ozark, MO; Executive Director of Heit's Point Lutheran Camp in Lincoln, MO; Pastor at Trinity in Clinton, MO; Pastor at Trinity in Salina, KS; and part-time Pastor at Beautiful Savior in Paris, TX. He has served as our pastor here at WOL since November 10, 2019.
